Alisha later brought her policy experience directly into the work of leading schools, serving as executive director and superintendent of Ivy Preparatory Academies. Under her leadership, the network experienced significant academic, operational and organizational improvement. Her career has given her the rare perspective of someone who has written education policy, led schools and worked alongside elected officials, educators, families and community leaders to turn bold ideas into meaningful results.

In 2022, Alisha became the Democratic nominee for Georgia State School Superintendent after winning all 159 counties in the Democratic primary. Her statewide campaign earned nearly 1.8 million votes in the general election and strengthened her standing as one of Georgia’s leading voices on public education.

Today, Alisha serves as co-founder and chief executive officer of the Center for Strong Public Schools, a national organization working to advance bold education policy, equip courageous leaders and build the political will necessary to ensure every child has access to an excellent public education. Through CSPS, she convenes policymakers, education leaders, advocates and community partners across multiple states to strengthen public schools and support the leaders responsible for shaping their future.

Married to retired state trooper Carlos Searcy. Together they founded the Los and Lisha Legacy Foundation to honor their shared commitment to public service and education. Together, Alisha and Carlos are dedicated to creating opportunities, supporting families, and empowering the next generation through education and exposure opportunities.
